Nick Leventis took our Honda Performance Development ARX-03a through the quarter distance mark, driving magnificently at dusk – despite a foot injury that required treatment afterwards.
He took the car from 23rd to 19th place, before handing over to Jonny Kane. As the track temperature dropped further and the grip levels reduced, JK spun the car at the final corner and clipped a wall – which required a replacement rear end to be fitted. That dropped us back to 23rd place, and a one minute stop and go penalty for speeding in the pit lane didn’t help either!
Jonny took the car back up to 18th, before handing over to Danny Watts for a very long night time stint. The strategy was straightforward – drive flat-out for as long as possible on one set of Michelin tyres and get as high up the leaderboard as possible. That’s the sort of plan Danny likes, and by 3am on Sunday he was 13th overall – and catching the cars ahead.
