Strakka Racing was delighted to host a garage visit by the Bahraini F1 in Schools, who showed great interest in the team’s Honda Performance Development ARX-03a and talked in depth to team members.

F1 in Schools is a multi-disciplinary challenge in which teams of students aged nine to 19 deploy CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacture) software to collaborate, design, analyse, manufacture, test, and then race miniature gas-powered balsa wood F1 cars. The global project is designed to help change perceptions of engineering, science and technology by creating a fun and exciting learning environment for young people to develop an informed view about careers in engineering, science, marketing and technology.

The young visitors to the Strakka Racing pit garage in Bahrain were extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic – and a pleasure to meet.

The visit took place during Free Practice 3; a session Strakka Racing elected to sit out. There is nothing wrong – on the contrary, after two excellent practice sessions yesterday, where the team set the fastest FIA World Endurance Championship for Privateers’ time in both, today’s one hour morning session was not representative of the track conditions we’ll face during the race, which takes place tomorrow between 4-10pm. The Strakka engineers and drivers agreed that there was nothing more that could be learnt from lapping in the incredibly hot conditions today (the track temperature was 45ÂșC between 10.50-11.50), so instead the team used the time wisely to began to prepare the car for the all important Qualifying session, which starts at 4.30pm.

Qualifying will be streamed live on www.fiawec.com
